How to set up matrices from a word problem.

What you do is fill in the box with percents. How? you ask. We are using matrices with four trees. The matrices are made up of rows and column. The next paragraphs tell you how to set up matrices.

The first row.

What you do is for the first tree of the first row is you see what percent the tree keeps. Then for the second tree of the first row you see what percent that it gives to the first tree. Then you see what percent of the third tree of the first row gives to the first tree. Then you see what percent of the forth tree of the first row gives to the first tree.

The second row.

You see what percent the first tree of the second row gives to the second tree. Then you see what percent the second tree keeps. Then you see what percent the third tree gives to the second tree of the second row. Then you see what percent the forth tree gives to the second tree of the second row.

The third row.

You see what percent the first tree of the third row gives to the third tree. Then you see what percent the second tree gives to the third tree of the third row. Then you see what percent the third tree keeps. Then you see what percent the forth tree gives to the third tree of the third row.

The forth row.

You see what percent the first tree of the forth row gives to the forth tree. Then you see what percent the second tree gives to the forth tree of the forth row. Then you see what percent the third tree gives to the forth tree of the forth row. Then you see what percent the forth tree keeps.
